Customer Reviews
I recently visited Patio29 Spirits Co., and it turned out to be an excellent example of a thoughtfully executed small-batch craft distillery experience. Located in the historic downtown area of Winters, the tasting room blends naturally into the town’s relaxed atmosphere while still presenting a polished and professional environment. The space itself is inviting and well-designed, creating a comfortable setting where visitors can slow down, learn about the distillation process, and enjoy the spirits being produced on-site. The moment I walked in, the team welcomed guests warmly and immediately created an environment that felt both educational and social rather than transactional.
One of the strengths of Patio29 is the way the staff approach the tasting experience. Rather than simply serving samples, they take time to explain the philosophy behind their distillation methods, ingredient selection, and the development of their spirits. That level of engagement elevates the experience because you begin to appreciate the craftsmanship and intentionality behind each bottle. The conversation naturally flows from the history of the distillery to the production techniques they use, which helps visitors understand how small-batch distillation differs from large commercial operations.
The spirits themselves demonstrate strong balance and technical precision. Their vodka stands out for its clean structure and smooth finish, making it enjoyable both neat and as a cocktail base. The gin offers a well-structured botanical profile with bright aromatics and a controlled level of juniper that allows other botanical elements to come forward without overpowering the palate. The cocktail program also deserves recognition because the bartenders clearly understand how to highlight the character of each spirit. Instead of masking the base spirit, the cocktails are constructed to complement and elevate the flavor profile, which is a strong indicator of thoughtful beverage craftsmanship.
Another aspect that enhances the experience is the atmosphere. Patio29 manages to create a relaxed social setting that encourages conversation and exploration. It feels like a place where locals gather as much as visitors discovering the town for the first time. The tasting room maintains a balance between professionalism and approachability, making it easy for both experienced spirit enthusiasts and casual visitors to feel comfortable.
Overall, Patio29 Spirits Co. delivers a refined yet welcoming craft distillery experience that reflects both technical skill and community-oriented hospitality. The combination of well-executed spirits, knowledgeable staff, and a comfortable environment makes it a destination worth visiting if you are exploring the craft beverage scene in Northern California.

The ideal distillery! Patio 29 gives the attention to product that every customer can appreciate. The spectrum of cocktails is there for your whole party. Everyone will walk away with their taste buds satisfied! The tasting flights of flavors and varieties of alcohol are created for the true enjoyment of the experienced drinker. The owners are the staff and they work harder than any other team around. They have lively conversations and truly “meet and greet” you. Leaving Patio 29 with a smile is guaranteed.
Response from the owner:Nikolos! Reading your review made our day here at the distillery. We are so appreciative of your support, and hope you'll visit us again soon!
Love this place. The drinks are delicious, everyone on the staff is super friendly and helpful. I love their soft pretzel with mustard. Sitting inside or out on the patio is perfect.
It's all just a cool, laid back vibe.

Nice spirits, nice staff.
What a small town gem! We were introduced by our daughter who lives in town. Enjoyed Mothers & Fathers Day afternoons. Delicious handcrafted cocktails and delicious food menu. Great place to spend with friends.
Pride in their craft is what sets this place apart. Patio29 is family owned and operated; they've spent many years honing their skills and have created a variety of absolutely delicious (and award winning!) spirits. Flights of six 1/4 oz. pours are currently $10 and you can choose from over a dozen different spirits. If you buy a bottle (believe me, you'll want to!), the flight fee is waived. Not only do they produce amazing gin, rum, vodka, and whiskeys, but they have a wonderful selection of handcrafted cocktails made from their own spirits - simple, classic, seasonal, and daily specials, also for around $10 each. The vibe is excellent and family friendly, with an outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating as well. They're serving food now, too, but as we were only there for drinks I didn't get to try it out. I'm giving this place five stars for outstanding spirits (the barrel rested gin and the straight rye were my favorites), great vibe, and the warmth, hospitality, and knowledge of the proprietors.
Very nice . Enjoyable venue to relax and try local spirits.
We stopped in today with our two kids for a tasting. The kids enjoyed the music and the yummy soft pretzels, while the adults enjoyed the straight 6 samplers. We learned some of the family and local history, which really added to the experience! I wish we lived closer so we could stop in more often.
Highly recommend! A large group of us all met at Patio29 to finally give it a try, we ordered several tasters, cocktail’s, pizza, pretzels, all items were great! We enjoyed hanging out on their patio, it was pretty windy but the way they’ve built their patio really blocked the wind so it was just a light breeze while sitting on their patio. If you haven’t been yet I highly recommend you try it! We’ll be back!
A small group came down to the Radford Racing School for a 1 day fun class. They were so kind to leave a few bottles for the instructors that worked with them. I got a bottle of Gin, batch 4, bottle 139. Love it ! What great people. Thank you.
Whiskey and Rye at the top of my favorite list. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Reasonable prices. In Winters, but away from everyone else and quiet. A must-stop for fans of local distilleries. They make a very unusual and tasty Vodka.
High praise for the Eric and the Patio 29 Team! They were the only local distillery who made available to us highly sought after hand sanitizer, initially only for health care providers like ourselves. They enabled us to reopen our optometry office safely - keeping our patients and our team safe. Works great and has a pleasant floral scent. Thank you for all your hard work during this pandemic. It is much appreciated! Hoping you will reopen fully soon!
Family owned, love the cinnamon whiskey
The gun and vodka are produced in house
Wonderful people!
This distillery just opened up last month and it's an absolute must if you're anywhere near Winters. Not only is the Boone family absolutely lovely and incredibly welcoming, but they are truly dedicated to local, craft whiskey, vodka, gin, and rum.
I had about a thousand questions about the distilling process and they answered every last one, all while showing me around the distillery and mixing up a delightful vodka lavender spritzer (so bright and refreshing). The passion they have for the craft is clear to anyone who walks in, never moreso than when you get to hear the story of their great-grandfather and how his innovation led to their cinnamon whiskey.
